A spiral-shaped path cultivated with 120 wheat varieties in the heart of Cilento. You walk through it — and you play: 63 squares, one story for every step across the fields.
In Caselle in Pittari, within the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, Antonio Pellegrino and the Terra di Resilienza social cooperative guide participants through the Grain Library: a field project created in 2008 to preserve and bring back into cultivation cereal varieties that were at risk of disappearing.
This is not simply a guided visit, but an immersive experience exploring agricultural biodiversity, rural landscapes, and farming heritage.
The Grain Library hosts more than 120 cultivated varieties arranged within a large spiral pathway. Walking through the fields, Antonio shares stories about seeds, territories, climate adaptation, and agricultural practices that continue to evolve over time. For him, these are not “ancient grains,” but grains of the future: living varieties capable of preserving biodiversity and strengthening the relationship with the land.
Completing the experience is the Grain Goose Game: 63 large squares spread across the field, each telling the story of agricultural work through the changing seasons. Traditional tools, sowing, harvesting, unexpected events, the rhythms of the land, and life in the fields all become part of the game.
Just like in real agricultural work, some squares help you move forward while others slow your journey down — because life in the fields does not always go smoothly.
Antonio Pellegrino, a farmer-sociologist and the driving force behind the project, personally guides the experience through storytelling, direct observation, and dialogue with participants, transforming the field into a space for encounter and interpretation of the territory.
The route is simple and suitable for families, children, groups, and visitors with no previous agricultural experience.
Here, the agricultural landscape of Cilento is not simply observed: it is crossed, listened to, and played.
